Besides working in the studio, I've started this year's garden, planting and mostly weeding to prepare for planting. We've had the earliest spring I've experienced since moving here in 1976. Of course, winter's not over in Denver until Memorial Day!
My right arm/shoulder is back to full function, except that I'm still working out tight areas. That's a process of consistent exercise to strengthen and stretch where I don't see much progress day to day. I've gotten the backlog of orders out (from the couple of months when I couldn't work); and then made pieces from new ideas, like these lidded jars: I've also been finishing some everyday pieces like pie plates, but trying a different way of decorating them- since they're easy to make on the wheel so I don't fret if my experiments don't work out. Fruit is not an unusual subject for my designs, but for these, I thinned out the stains to give more of a watercolor look. It was exciting because right away four of them sold. I have the apple and plum still and got to work throwing more plates ("throwing" is making them on the potters wheel). They're 10" in diameter and sell for $65 each. Shown: apple, blueberry, cherry, lemon, pear, plum.
