Pretty much back to speed (just in time for spring!)

My right arm/shoulder is back to full function, except that I'm still working out tight areas.  That's a process of consistent exercise to strengthen and stretch where I don't see much progress day to day.  I've gotten the backlog of orders out (from the couple of months when I couldn't work); and then made pieces from new ideas, like these lidded jars:

I've also been finishing some everyday pieces like pie plates, but trying a different way of decorating them- since they're easy to make on the wheel so I don't fret if my experiments don't work out.  Fruit is not an unusual subject for my designs, but for these, I thinned out the stains to give more of a watercolor look.
It was exciting because right away four of them sold.  I have the apple and plum still and got to work throwing more plates ("throwing" is making them on the potters wheel).  They're 10" in diameter and sell for $65 each.  Shown: apple, blueberry, cherry, lemon, pear, plum.

Besides working in the studio, I've started this year's garden, planting and mostly weeding to prepare for planting.  We've had the earliest spring I've experienced since moving here in 1976.  Of course, winter's not over in Denver until Memorial Day!

    o happy clay!

I spent many hours as a child poring over fairy tales books and copying the illustrations.  And having grown up in a large family with no room for clutter, I came to appreciate things that were both functional and beautiful. My studio is in the middle of my organic garden.  Between gardening and working with clay, it seems like my hands are never clean!

Before ceramics, I spent twenty-five years in fine art and graphic art, including ten years as a sign painter. My work has won several awards, is in galleries across the country, and has been exhibited in national shows.
